Film Review : Lakshya

Whether you like the story or not Laksyha is worth watching for its technical brilliance - never before seen quality in a Hindi movie. Its breathtakingly brilliant. The shots, the stunts and one of the best war recreation scenes ever. Makes J.P.Dutta and his much touted movie look like a school production.

I for one enjoyed the story too. There aren't (thankfully) too many moral teachings in the story - its more of a enactment of confusions and frustrations that plague any normal person. The coming of age of a confused youngster who takes to the Army more out of rebellion than any other reason is quite well captured. Most of the first part of the movie consists of the build up to war that culminates the story in the second half.

Here's where the movie shows its amazing quality. Considerable research seems to have gone into the making of this movie. Some action still could do with a little more work especially during the scouting scene. But the actual war scenes (there are 3 in all) make up for it. The coup de grace is the the rock climbing scene which is quite breath-taking.

Hrithik Roshan is brilliant in his acting. Changing personalities from a confused, dont-know-what-to-do-with-my-life goofy character to a confident, smart, army captain. An amazingly gifted dancer, he is very graceful in the very esotericly (attractively) choreographed song - "Mein Aisa Kyon Hoon". Prabhu Deva's choreographed moves are brilliant in their madness and their uniqueness.
Hrithik Roshan is the heart of the movie.

A must see movie - if for no reason then simply to note how Bollywood has come of age with movies that can compete with Hollywood ! Actually!!!
